Myths role in storytelling through history is constant. However the role of myth today has evolved into becoming a tool to abolish the complexity of human acts and create a world without contradiction.

In Roland Boer’s essay The Robbery of Language he writes that the crafting of “a world without contradiction” is an undeniable acknowledgement of erasing other perspectives in favour of a singular outlook. Myth & Signification invites artists to reflect upon the ability of modern myth to distort meaning and suspend rationality and uncover perspectives suppressed by dominant discourses.

Through sculpture, installation, painting and textiles, myth and counter-myth are explored as devices for investigating the potentiality of oppositional perspectives and utopian ideas in resisting the creation of a world without contradiction.
